Snoring is a problem for all who are within earshot; not only for the one who has it. It upsets all who sleeps in the same room, like his or her partner.

The condition can lead to circulatory problems in the long run. Heart troubles and high blood pressure are just among the problems snorers may face in the future. For his “victims,” they are likely to have an exhausting and annoying day-after.

Most of the snorers are men, even though there are also women and even a really small number of children who snore. Age also exacerbates the condition as the muscles deteriorate as we grow old.

Sleeping on your side is the simplest way to lessen snoring. This lets more conducive air flow to your air passages. You can also try sleeping on your back as it also helps. However, this is not a permanent answer. Once you return to sleeping on your back, then the snoring also returns.

Another prevention tip is to raise half of your mattress so your head and torso are several inches higher than your lower body so that your tongue won’t fall back and obstruct your air passages.

Avoid drinking alcohol and consuming dairy products hours before going to bed. Alcohol relaxes your throat, causing your tongue to fall back and block your airways, while dairy causes mucus that can form in your nose and throat.

Getting healthy may just be the answer to your snoring problem. As mean as it sounds, overweight people are said to be more prone to snores. Studies also say that those who smoke are more like to snore than those who don’t.

Snoring can also be aggravated by some medicines such as antihistamines and even sleeping pills. If possible, reduce your intake before going to sleep.

If all else fails, you can undergo operation. Many snorers choose to have operation after trying and failing each solution accessible to them. However, before taking this step, it is best to determine if you have sleep apnea first. Snoring is a common symptom of sleep apnea; extinguishing the former won’t ensure that you will also extinguish the latter.

Check with your ENT doctor on what step is best treatment for you. Your doctor will help you get the continuous sleep you’ve always dreamed of.

Consult qualified ENT doctor for your ear nose throat illnesses.
